About Practicum at Feelings First

Our mission is to provide our clients with a safe space to put their feelings first - however that looks to them. Whether it be choosing time to put themselves first, or needing the space to share what is on their minds, your feelings will always be put first with us. We strive to create a warm, open, empathic space where you can show up as your authentic self and work towards your own state of wellness.

With multiple therapy formats, flexible bookings, and affordable options, our goal is to provide services to all who are looking with minimal wait time, so that those reaching out can begin their therapeutic journey without having to wait.

As a student therapist, your role will be to provide counselling services to individuals and couples with mild to moderate general mental health struggles both virtually and in person at our Alliston, Ontario office. Within this role, practicum students will be provided with direct and indirect hours that are required to fulfill practicum requirements.

  • Provision of clients and direct client contact hours through 50-minute virtual & in person counselling sessions, conducting intake, screening, etc.

  • Provision of indirect hours as per requirements of practicum

  • Opportunity to work with adolescent and adult clients aged 12+ (both individual and couples) with general mental health struggles such as anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, etc.

  • Opportunity to gain experience with a variety of therapeutic approaches including (but not limited to); DBT, CBT, ACT, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based

  • Regular meetings offering support and guidance from an active and enthusiastic site owner!

  • Monthly Team Supervision

  • A structured learning program purchased and provided for you!

  • Use of company email, booking software, and company provided marketing via website and counsellor directories

While we cannot currently provide an on-site supervisor to fulfill practicum requirements, we have partnered with a CRPO-qualified external supervisor who offers professional and affordable supervision services. We are happy to connect you with this external supervisor to ensure you receive the support needed for your practicum success

The Ideal Candidate…

  • Is a Master’s Level student who has completed all coursework components of their program.

  • Is self-motivated, independent, responsible and has impeccable time-management skills.

  • Is comfortable with working with an external supervisor for the successful completion of their practicum supervision hours

  • Has flexible availability with evening and weekend availability and can dedicate an average of 15 hours per week to practicum site.

  • Is located near Alliston, ON with reliable transportation for greater accessibility to practicum site

  • Is driven and has particular interest in entering private practice

  • Has the necessary requirements to provide virtual counselling services including (but not limited to): A quiet, private space, high-speed internet, computer with adequate audio/visual capabilities.

Additional Assets…

  • You have previous counselling experience.

  • You are registered with the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) or have recently applied for registration.

  • You have completed additional training in therapeutic modalities.
