Lexia Ramjitsingh (she/her)

Registered Social Worker

Meet Lexia

My name is Lexia and I am a Registered Social Worker.

I am passionate about supporting children, youth, teens, parents and families in a number of areas including anxiety, trauma, transitions, emotional regulation, coping skills, developmental stages and other aspects that require a holistic approach.

My goal for any client, despite the age, is to build a confident rapport on a foundation of trust. Creating a space that allows all clients the freedom to be open with the understanding that we are working towards growth, new understandings and new strengths.

My Approach

In session, clients can expect a warm atmosphere that facilitates discovery. Working one-on-one with clients compared to a family unit can feel different and although each situation is unique I take an approach that blends solution-focused, attachment-based, therapeutic play and theraplay to support clients at any stage in their journey.

I see my role as a facilitator in achieving not just a better understanding about your child but helping parents to find ways to communicate with their children in a developmentally appropriate way. I offer therapeutic interventions working with children and families utilizing theraplay, CBT, sandtray, DBT and an integrative approach that includes polyvagal, attachment, mental health and resilience informed practice.

I will always meet clients where they are at. I work from a non-judgmental, restorative approach that is not meant to be linear. Reaching out for support can be difficult for some and I want to be a person that makes attaining that support a less daunting process.

A form of therapy that focuses on early caregiver-child relationships and how crucial they are for emotional development. This approach identifies attachment styles which lead to areas of further support and exploration. Assisting in understanding and addressing attachment we see a success with regulation, social skills and emotional well-being.

Attachment-Based

Trauma-Informed

Trauma-informed practice involves understanding the effects of trauma on a child's development and behaviour, and responding in a way that promotes healing and resilience. Traumatic events impact everyone uniquely. Whether I am working with a child, youth or family unit, I am bringing a trauma-informed lens.

Narrative Therapy

A powerful tool that looks to rewrite and reframe troublesome experiences or current problems. Narrative therapy is powerful at any age as it works to externalize the experience in a supportive environment.

Resilience-Focused

A focused approach that involves nurturing a child or youth's ability to cope with stress and adapt to challenges. By cultivating strong relationships, fostering emotional intelligence and offering opportunities for problem-solving, resilience is built and therefore, makes future challenges more manageable.

“Sometimes ‘good enough’ is ‘good enough’ - perfection is a thief of meaningful process”

Perks of Working with Lexia

  • I work to instill confidence in clients of any age through encouragement, guidance and overall support.

  • I am engaged in the goals of my clients from the moment we meet at intake.

  • I will listen and hold space for whatever is on your mind, without judgement.

My ideal clients are children, youth, teens, parents and families as a unit. My clients could benefit from a structured approach where parents are motivated to take on the learning and adjustments required to affect positive change on their identified areas of support.

Said areas of support could be around emotional regulation, anxiety, anger, impulsivity etc. for both parent or child. My clients are families open to a better understanding of the themes at play in their world to work towards positive change and want their child(ren) to also be better supported.
